Insider Tip

Rosie Rumpe's Regal Dumpe

Rosie Rumpe's Regal Dumpe Be prepared when you enter, this is King Henry VIII's favorite tavern. You'll be amid bawdy, lusty serving wenches, wandering minstrels and fools, and if you're really lucky, perhaps a visit, from His Majesty Himself, will coincide with yours. It's loud, it's bawdy and it's boisterous. You bang on tables, and if you get too far out of line, you might get a visit to the stocks. Lively, ridiculous and participatory. It's three hours you won't soon forget. This show is rated PG13. Children under 12 are welcome, but parental discretion is advised. More...

Virginia's single-largest historical attraction is Williamsburg, the re-creation of an 18th-century American city. A few miles southwest of Williamsburg is Historic Jamestown, site of the first permanent English settlement and now a living-history museum. The Yorktown Battlefield and Yorktown Victory Center are a few miles east in Yorktown, site of the battle that ended the war for independence from England. At the end of the Virginia peninsula, the enormous Hampton Roads harbor is where the James, Elizabeth, and Nansemond rivers flow together and on into Chesapeake Bay. This entire area is known as the Tidewater, technically defined as the area east of the fall line of the rivers flowing into the Chesapeake Bay.
