Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®
Annual - October

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®, the world’s largest hot air balloon festival, takes place each October, when you’ll see more than 700 balloons in the sky at a time. This magical hot air balloon festival is considered to be the most photographed event in the world, drawing a huge international crowd of balloonists and spectators. Clear blue skies, calm winds and mild temperatures are the norm in Albuquerque, encouraging year-round hot air ballooning and enabling more than 300 resident balloonists (more than any other state) to fly hot air balloons frequently and for long periods of time. If the hot air balloons you see dotting the sky pique your interest, why not take a flight yourself? Local hot air balloon companies provide rides for visitors on a daily basis. Albuquerque Dining

Albuquerque Dining
Albuquerque is home to one of America's most unique and cherished regional cuisines, so it's no surprise that food is one of the things that people remember most about a trip to New Mexico--some people say they moved here just to be closer to the source! New Mexican cuisine is based on native ingredients like corn, beans, squash and chilies, and incorporates Mexican, Native American and Spanish flavors -- but chili is always the most important element. In fact, our official state question is "Red or green?" and both types of chile can be instantly addictive, bringing visitors back year after year. More about Dining in Albuquerque

Albuquerque is an awesome city to visit and live. With three cultures (American Indian, Hispanic, and White) it makes for a unique place to live or visit. Centrally located in the state of New Mexico, Albuquerque is close to Santa Fe, New Mexico, a city rich in art, music, and native foods. It is also surrounded by smaller cities that host many different events through out the year. Albuquerque is currently enjoying the New Mexico State Fair which is one of the biggest fairs in the country. Next, the International Balloon Fiesta with bring in balloonist from all over the world to enjoy several weeks of sun and fun in the air. Month after month there’s something going on to enjoy. Christmas, one of the most beautiful times of the year, with luminarias (little bags filled with sand and candles) lighting the way for visitors at the downtown Old Town Plaza, with a historic church as a back drop. The thing that makes Albuquerque and New Mexico such great places to visit is that all this can be enjoyed because we have great weather. With great weather comes beautiful skies and wonderful sunsets. Albuquerque is truly a large part of the state they call 'the land of enchantment'.
